Reiki Weirdness

I did a Reiki session on a friend yesterday and it was very odd. The whole time I was doing the positions over his head it felt like my hands were going numb. I usually feel heat, or energy flowing, or just nothing while giving a session so to feel numb was quite odd.Has this happened to anyone else? Is it "normal," something I should be paying extra attention to?
